Sculptural Digital Signage

Zaha Hadid Architects and AlArabia needed an experienced product design team to turn their sculptural outdoor digital signage concept into reality. Jedco were brought on board to turn the vision into a tangible design ready for manufacture and installation.

Jedco provided product design and engineering for the project, including the digital displays and complex A/C and ventilation system required to ensure the product worked in the heat of Saudi Arabia. We created full technical drawings and specifications, and supervised the prototyping to ensure the design intent and vision was retained through to manufacture – without compromise.

The product is inspired by a plume of smoke. The sleek exterior hid over 170 different internal parts designed by Jedco.

Jedco also produced a 56 page installation and maintenance manual for the client.

Throughout the process we worked closely with the end client, architect, structural engineers, manufacturers and specialist component suppliers, advising the team on technical and aesthetic matters. Integrating all our bespoke designed components into the complex sculptural form was a real challenge that required all our decades of experience. The final product is over 4m tall, and features a 75” touchscreen LCD, a 6 sq/m LED display, with illuminated logos and external lighting system.
