Poetic design for a canalside community

See Paddington is a narrative trail of artistic panels between South Wharf Road and Bishop’s Bridge. It incorporates pattern, imagery and stories drawn from Paddington’s heritage, culture, people and nature.

The Paddington Partnership appointed Jedco and Steer to create a series of bespoke products to animate the canalside path, bookmarking the gateways at each end. It progressively reveals Paddington through a coordinated package of physical products that integrate poetry and art within the urban fabric to create a coherent sense of place.

The products are based on themes of nature, local heritage, and personal stories.

Working with Poet in the City, stories from Paddington locals were translated into poetic phrases and related imagery on the products to tell a unique and impactful story.

We created original design concepts, and developed these through to full technical details for the manufacture and installation of the final physical products – carrying out site surveys, working closely with stakeholders, partners, manufacturers, and structural engineers – to ensure the vision for the products was effectively delivered.

Jedco involvement spanned from the very first concepts to overseeing the final implementation.
