With the increase in low cost flights and weekend breaks, Berlitz saw a chance to enhance sales of their fold-out tourist maps, branded as Z-guides. We proposed a destination specific travel wallet which could hold a number of appropriate guidemaps, as well as a passport and holiday mementos.
Sketches illustrating a range of approaches were prepared for selection by the client. We then detailed the chosen option and produced a working prototype for market evaluation. Potential manufacturers were sourced and production costs obtained from companies in the Far East.
Aimed at the 18-40 independent traveller, the product is a refreshing and robust alternative to the traditional travel guidebook. It has a high visual impact and a strong tactile quality, achieved through the use of polypropylene and elastomeric silicone materials.
- Innovative alternative approach to traditional travel guidebooks
